Mocho stool, 1960s

Sergio Rodrigues
Material: solid imbuia wood
Year: 1960s

This stool is said to be the first piece of furniture designed by Sergio Rodriguez himself. Its shape is said to have been inspired by a visit to a cow farm. The milkmaids of traditional Brazilian farms sit on similar chairs to collect milk. Convex and full-bodied, playful and elegant, like a Mascagni opera, the shape of the stool is a metaphorical image of goodness and unfailing stability.
