A young Brazilian designer who has made a name for himself with furniture made from recycled glass. According to him, his work not only aims to blur the boundaries between art and design, but also to make glass a material that will be no less associated with Brazilian culture than wood is today. The designer sees himself as one of the forces at work in the ongoing process of transformation that glass objects undergo. Like an alchemist, he is interested in how a stone becomes sand, then glass, then a tumbler or a window, and finally a bedside table. In addition to his philosophy of 'everything flows, everything changes', Lucas Recchia's pieces are valued for their functionality and their ability to refract light. They interact differently with natural and artificial lighting and in this way enliven the spaces around them. Lucas now works in his studio in the centre of São Paulo, where he and his team of experienced craftsmen come up with new projects. He focuses on how to give a second life not only to glass, but also to bronze, aluminium and stone in the most unexpected ways.
