The Other Side of the Earth:
a Perspective on Brazilian Design
WE Gallery x LUNAR
The exhibition-anthology of Brazilian design covers the period from the mid-20th century to the present day. It brings together modernist designers of historical significance, such as Lina de Bardi, Joaquim Tenreiro, Percival Lafer and Giuseppe Scapinelli, with contemporary artists who have already gained international recognition: Zanini de Zanine, Lucas Recchia, Juliana Vasconcelos, Gustavo Bittancourt, and others. Handcrafted from the natural riches of Brazilian soil, these masters' works are characterised by organic silhouettes and the powerful energy of rhythmic forms common to South American cultures.

The exhibition is designed as a total installation and conceived to give viewers the closest possible insight into the unique craftsmanship involved in working with rare woods, bronze, glass, natural stone and plant fibres. Paintings, ceramics and sculptures by contemporary artists such as Rodrigo Almeida, Kimi Niia and Jacqueline Terpins perfectly complement unique pieces of furniture and decor, creating a unique experience of immersing yourself in the aesthetics of Brazil. Visitors can explore the differences between traditional craftsmanship, new designs and modern art, and decide what makes these areas unique today.
