Solitário I sculptural vase

Jacqueline Terpins
Material: blown crystal
Year: 2022

A designer and artist whose works imbue the fluidity of molten crystal with a timeless character. In her words, design is much closer to everyday human life than art, which requires the silence of museum halls. But if objects can make a person freeze in silence, carrying them away into a world of thoughts and feelings, then the boundary between design and art dissolves. Jacqueline’s work starts with travel. She goes to the most exotic and expressive places on the planet and photographs everything that touches her heart. It could be the mountains in Cappadocia, the glaciers in Iceland, or the intertwining vines deep in the Amazon jungle. She reflects all her experiences in numerous sketches, which she later transforms into clay prototypes. She does not strive for a decorative effect. Carefully checking every line of her objects, she explores the poetry of nature and its expressive properties. After extensive work with the clay, Jacqueline goes to her studio, where, with the help of her main tool — high temperature — she fixes the movement of soft and fluid material forever. If the resulting object surprises her, she believes that it will also fascinate other people.
